Just to let you all know, CODA have two more gigs coming up before the end of 2007 so get down and lend your support. These are:-
- Jack Daniels Battle of the bands - Limelight - Wed 28th Nov – Doors 8:30pm £3
- The Square Peg, Warrenpoint – CODA will be supporting Irish legends Aslan - Sat 1st Dec
CODA also want to say a big thanks to everybody who has come to see us play, lent a hand, played with us, put us on, put us up, and generally been nice to us during what has been an eventful 2007. With Adam Shirlow joining on guitar/vocals late 2006 and recording some initial live material in January 2007 at Blueroom Studios (www.myspace.com/blueroomrecordingstudio), we've had the pleasure of going onto support some brilliant international acts such as The Beangrowers (Rough Trade Records Germany), The Hedrons (MeasureRecords),Tellison (Gravity Dip Records), and You Say Party! We Say Die! (Fierce panda) along with playing alongside some of the best bands in Ireland from Fight Like Apes & The Beat Poets to Mojo Fury and In case of Fire.
We also released our ‘Burn The Wire’ EP in June 07, which received extensive airplay on N. Ireland radio stations, including BBC Radio Ones Rory McConnell show along with an acoustic session for BBC Radio Ulster in July 07.
Gigwise, the band also made their debut on the Spurs of Rock stage at the ever growing Glasgowbury Festival in Draperstown, headlined by Duke Special this year along with venturing further afield to play gigs in London (Dublin Castle) in September, and Nottingham (Junktion 7) in October.
As a result we have received numerous reviews throughout Irish and UK media, being chosen as 'Pick of the Fortnight' in Hotpress Magazine (July). As well as being featured in Music Mart Magazine('Performing Musician'), unsigned section in September.
CODA will now be taking a few months off gigging, to write and record some new material for a future album release and UK and Ireland tour in 2008.
p.s. just want to say a big thanks to Indieboy (http://indieboy.vox.com/) he's been really encouraging for us, and its been great reading his journal and getting a real indepth view of A&R!

Just a brief snippet from a review on Organ Magazine(www.organart.demon.co.uk) issue #218 -
Coda have a slick professional package and look like you could trust them to turn up at a gig with drumsticks and strings on thier guitars (it has happened, we have had bands turn up without). Coda are from Northern Ireland (Belfast to be accurate), they create urgent energetic, slick (not too slick) indie-edged guitar rock that kinds of feels like a not quite so wired and slightly harder Gossip flavoured Pretty Girls Make Graves, Bloc Party thing. They’re a female fronted four piece – alternative, melodic and full of positive energetic potentially attention grabbing bluster – www.codaonline.co.uk
Hey,
This is just a quick reminder to say that CODA will be playing Dublin Castle, Camden, London next weekend on Sunday 23rd September. CODA should be onstage at 8pm!!!
Just as a bit of a teaser, heres a video of CODA live at Auntie Annies filmed on 4th Sept 07. The song is 'Cold Sweat Tears' of CODAs Ep Burn The Wire. If you like what you saw/heard and want to see more, give us a shout, as we're currently editing a few more videos from that gig and can provide higher quality versions!
p.s. thanks to Jon from The Beat Poets for use of his camera!
We've released a new CODA promo photograph for use throughout our press pack and promotional material. This can be found on our Vox journal, or at our online press kit www.codaonline.co.uk/presskit available for high resolution download.
The Photograph was taken by renowned music photographer Graham Smith www.grahamsmithphotography.com who CODA have closely worked with over the years.
Photographs of Julianne from CODA, and of the full band, were included in Grahams first book "Book One : 2003 - 2007, Going Deaf For A Living" which will be available at his exhibiton later this month:
Graham Smith Photography Exhibition
19th September - 6th October 2007
Gallery 1, Island Arts Centre, Lisburn.
Launch Evening : Wednesday 19th September
Very special stripped down set from Mike Mormecha, vocalist/drummer with Mojo Fury, similar to http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=f2YaLgCOy60
Graham will hopefully be photographing at our upcoming Dublin Castle, London gig on 23rd September.
If you wish to contact Graham, you can email him at info@grahamsmithphotography.com
CODA have been featured in Septembers MusicMart Magazine in the unsigned section!
'A fusion of Queens of The Stone Age and Garbage being torn to shreds by Sleater-Kinney. Its full-on, fast-paced, sometimes monolithically heavy and always kept right on the edge by singer Julianne Shaw's viciously powerful vocals. It's easy to imagine songs like 'They're Closing In' and 'Cold Sweat Tears' played live and loud creating something of a mini riot in the moshpit.'
Your can now hear two of CODAs tracks from their Burn The Wire EP which was released earlier this year!
1/ Cold Sweat Tears
2/ Lets Digress
Hope you enjoy!! Any feedback would be appreciated!
Julianne
